A Rikers Island jail captain is being investigated for treating rapper Lil Wayne like a big shot. Capt. Latanya Brown was questioned by Correction Department investigators for spending extra time with the star and letting him hang out in his cell while other inmates were locked out of their bunks and ordered into the recreation yard, two sources told The Post. The department has a zero-tolerance policy for officers who give preferential treatment to inmates, a spokesman said. Brown could not be reached for comment. (New York Post)
This, in turn, has now sparked an ongoing investigation.
Officials at the New York City Department of Correction have launched an investigation into the claims and Brown was recently questioned about the allegations, according to the New York Post. Wayne is expected to walk free from prison on November 5 after serving eight months of his one-year sentence. (Toronto Sun)
