When Billboard magazine put together their annual “Power 100 List,” Hip Hop took a few prominent positions in the form of Jay-Z (listed with wife Beyonce) and “Birdman” (listed with co-founder/co-CEO Ronald “Slim” Williams).

Jay-Z and Beyonce took the highest spot of any Hip Hop/R&B contributors by being listed together at the number 13 slot. And Brian and Ronald Williams weren’t far behind at the number 25 spot.

The Williams Brothers have been responsible for selling over 75 million records since signing a $30 million pressing and distribution deal with Universal back in 1998. Lil Wayne, Busta Rhymes, Drake, DJ Khaled and Nicki Minaj all record under either the Cash Money or YMCMB umbrella. The pair have also negotiated book deals and a YMCMB debit card all while eyeing a bigger haul.

“We dominate Rap, but we need to dominate R&B,” Birdman told Billboard. “We need to dominate Pop, Gospel, Country—we’re a brand so we should be able to put out all these types of music. We just got to keep grinding.”

Westmoreland identified Alfred Cleveland, a Cash Money employee, as her attacker. She recalled the events in court: “I was followed into the restroom, where he bit me on the cheek. I tried to pull his hands down, but he turned me around and pulled my jeans down.”

Westmoreland maintains Birdman wasn’t at the studio when the attack happened, but believes he had to have known it was going to happen. She is seeking an undisclosed amount of damamges.

Since the feud between rappers Common and Drake began late last year members of Young Money/Cash Money have remained relatively quiet in regards to their opinions on the beef between the two artists. But during a recent interview, Cash Money Records co-founder Birdman finally voiced his opinion on the feud.

The beef between Common and Drake, which seemed close to being finished, was reawakened this week thanks to the release of Common’s “Stay Schemin Remix.”

“I look up to that guy like crazy. I always have and I always will,” 40 said. “That’s someone who’s carved out a sound for rap music a couple of times, who has really influenced and changed the game as an individual. It would be crazy to say there’s competition.” He added that people should understand the difference between stealing another artist’s style and being influenced by him.

“You’re supposed to be a hybrid. When you got T.I. and Nas and Jay-Z and Wayne and Kanye and Eminem, all these different types of rappers from different places and so on and so forth, I would expect a couple of years after that a new rapper would comes out who incorporates all of those people. Because that’s the evolution of it and that’s what will always happen, so I don’t even look at it as like biting or stealing or this or that,” 40 said.

“I’m grateful to any and everybody that’s ever influenced me, including Mr. West.”

It’s common knowledge that Common and Drake aren’t exactly best of friends right now. But their camps haven’t been seeing eye to eye for quite some time. Pusha T appears to be taking shots at Drake on his recent “Sweet” and “Don’t F— with Me” freestyles, all over the beats of Common’s “Sweet” and Drake’s “Dreams Money Can Buy.”

Lil Wayne and Jay-Z have been exchanging competitive subliminal shots for a while now, but those shots delivered last year on The Throne’s “H.A.M” and Wayne’s “It’s Good” were probably the most talked about. Kanye West and Drake even seem to be taking jabs at each other, first on DJ Khaled’s “I’m On One,” (I’m just feelin’ like The Throne is for the takin’/ Watch me take it) and then The Throne’s “Otis” (I adopted these n—as/ Philip Drummond them/ Now, I’m about to make them tuck they whole summer in).

In an interview with radio personality Big Boy, he addressed the rap beef Drizzy and veteran rapper Common have gotten into in the last few weeks. Though he isn’t a fan of battle rap, he’s rocking with his artist.

“We’re supporting him 100% with our lives,” he says. “There’s no other way. Drake’s the little homie. That’s blood, that’s family. So ain’t no siding with that. It’s Drake or nothing.”

Also, don’t expect the rest of Drake’s Young Money or Cash Money family, including Lil Wayne and Nicki Minaj, to jump in the war of words either.

“We don’t do all that,” Baby says. “That’s not how we operate. We do our music for the people. We’ve never been a brand of diss records. That’s not us.”
