According to the New York Post, the NYPD prevented rapper Juelz Santana from attending Chris Brown’s album release party in New York City on Wednesday night (March 23).

Juelz was scheduled to perform with Brown at Webster Hall, but the rapper was apprehended by the Police at the venue’s door. His car was searched for drugs and weapons, and although no arrests were made, he did not enter in the building in time to perform.

Juelz tweeted about the incident as it was happening, writing, “A! Jus go Pulled over smhhh was on the way to Webster Hall . . . never fails [sic].” According to the Police the search was linked to suspected gang affiliation.

Santana’s representative Joe Wunstop made a statement, “Nobody got arrested. They were just giving him a hard time. By the time they finished searching, Juelz was upset — so it wouldn’t have made for a good show. He’s not part of the Bloods gang,” Wunstop continued, in response to the gang affiliation rumors. “I guess because a couple of guys that come around might be affiliated — friends bring friends — and he’s a really friendly dude.”

The Diplomats rapper was arrested in connection with a 10-month investigation. He was charged with four counts of narcotics and weapons possessions and was later released on $125,000 bail.

A source also revealed to the New York Post that detectives were keeping an eye on Santana during a Monday (March 21) night show at Manhattan’s B.B. King’s concert venue. His rep’s responded with, “The guys just follow around and sniff around for something to happen.”
