Takeoff Sued By Woman Who Alleges He Sexually Assaulted Her In June

Takeoff has been sued by a woman who claims the Migos rapped raped her at a Los Angeles party earlier this year, according to TMZ.

According to the complaint, the woman says Takeoff made her uncomfortable at a L.A. party in June before he raped her in the bedroom of the person who invited her to the party. She’s suing for sexual battery, assault, emotional distress and is seeking damages.

She alleges that Takeoff stared at her while at the party, making her uncomfortable before later offering her weed. She refused. Later on in the night, she went upstairs with the man who invited her to the party when Takeoff saw her and got upset. Takeoff and the man who she was accompanying got into an argument and the man told her to go to the bedroom to wait.

Takeoff then entered the room, touched her butt and after she claimed she refused his advances, the “Walk It Talk It” rapper flipped her face-down, pulled down her clothing and sexually assaulted her. The woman eventually went to a nearby hospital where she claims hospital staff observed physical evidence of rape and administered a rape kit.

Snoop Dogg Doesn’t Have Eminem In His Top 10 Rappers Of All-Time

Snoop Dogg MCC

Everybody’s version of a Top 10 list is different. Usually in hip-hop, the top 10 includes some variation of Jay-Z, Tupac and The Notorious B.I.G.. In Snoop Dogg‘s case, the West Coast OG left off the biggest selling rapper of all-time from his top 10 – Eminem.

In a recent interview, Snoop Dogg clarified why he wouldn’t put Em in his Top 10.

“Eminem! The Great White Hope! White rappers had zero respect in rap, let’s keep that one thou wow. NONE. He has probably put Eminem in a position where he could be labeled as one of the top 10 rappers ever,” Snoop said. “I don’t think so, but the game feels like he’s top 10 lyricist and all that comes with it. But that’s just because he’s with Dr. Dre and Dr. Dre helped him become the best Eminem he could find.”

He added, “There’s some n*ggas in the ’80s he can’t f*ck with. Like Rakim, Like Big Daddy Kane. Like KRS-One, like LL Cool J. Shall I go on? Like Ice Cube. I got no time to play with it, it is what it is. Cause cuz did that. He did that to the fullest. That’s one of my teammates, that’s one of my brothers. But when you talk this hip-hop sh*t, that I can’t live without? I can live without that.”

Back in 2002 on “Til I Collapse” with Nate Dogg, Em proudly checked off a number of MCs who he thought at the time were better than him.

“I got a list, here’s the order of my list that it’s in; / It goes, Reggie, Jay-Z, Tupac and Biggie / Andre from Outkast, Jada, Kurupt, Nas and then me / But in this industry I’m the cause of a lot of envy / So when I’m not put on this list the sh*t does not offend me,” he rapped.

Do you agree with Snoop and his list?

August Alsina Claims Will Smith “Gave Me His Blessing” Of Alleged Relationship With Jada Pinkett-Smith, Jada Denies It

2017 BET Awards - Red Carpet

Source: Paras Griffin / Getty

UPDATE: (9:30 AM CST) A rep for Jada flat out denies the affair, telling TMZ that August’s claims are absolutely not true.

ORIGINAL STORY: Social media was HOT Tuesday night (June 30) as an interview August Alsina conducted managed to not only reopen rumors of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith‘s marriage and how it works but also his alleged affair with the former A Different World star.

Alsina released a 2019 track, “Nunya” which only fueled speculation that he and Jada had a secret affair with the lines: “You got me feeling like it was an act, you’re just an actress/Putting on a show ’cause you don’t want the world to know.” The video also featured a shot of a text message from Alsina’s love interest listed as “Koren.” If you know your history, Koren is Jada’s birth-given middle name. Alsina denied that the track was about Jada or their alleged affair but now … that’s a whole different story.

In a five-part docuseries for his recently released album, The Product III: starofEMERGEncy, Alsina sat down and opened up about everything, including his controversial relationship with Jada. Alsina decided to speak his truth, and unearth plenty of drama in the process.

Listen Live Graphics (Indy)

“People can have whatever ideas that they like. But what I’m not OK with is my character being in question …” Alsina said. “Contrary to what some people may believe, I’m not a troublemaker. I don’t like drama. Drama actually makes me nauseous. I also don’t think that it’s ever important for people to know what I do, who I sleep with, who I date, right? But in this instance, there are so many people who are side-eyeing me … I’ve lost money, friendships, relationships behind it. And I think it’s because people don’t necessarily know the truth. But I’ve never done anything wrong. I love those people (the Smiths) … They are beautiful people.”

Alsina went on to explain that the Smith’s had an open marriage and that Will was not only cool with Jada and Alsina’s relationship but he actually signed off on it.

“I actually sat down with Will and had a conversation … He gave me his blessing,” he said. “And I totally gave myself to that relationship for years of my life, and I truly and really, really, deeply loved and have a ton of love for her (Jada). I devoted myself to it. I gave my full self to it. So much so that I can die right now, and be OK knowing that I fully gave myself to somebody … Some people never get that in this lifetime.”

He added, “This conversation is difficult because [it’s] hard for people to understand. But once it starts to affect me and my livelihood, I have to speak up about my truth … Walking away from it butchered me … It almost killed me. Not almost. It did—it pushed me into being another person … It broke me down … It probably will be the hardest thing I ever had to experience in this lifetime. It’s difficult because I never want to be the person to cause confusion or step on toes, but I want to honor myself and I want to honor my authenticity. And if honoring my authenticity means you hate me, stone me, shoot me, crucify me, whatever, bury me an honest man.”

Former Bachelor Producer: ‘We Wouldn’t Cast Black Women With Afros, Braids Or Locs’

ABC's 'Good Morning America' - 2017

Source: Lorenzo Bevilaqua / Getty

Just a few days after it was announced that Matt Barnes would be the first Black male Bachelor in the show’s 18-year franchise and 40 seasons, a former producer is spilling some serious tea on how the show handled Black female contestants in the past.

On June 13, former Bachelor casting producer Jazzy Collins posted on her Instagram account an open letter to ABC detailing her disgust with the show’s lack of interest in casting men and women of color beyond “the token Black person, Asian person, or Latinx person to satisfy what you believe to be the needs of the viewers,” Glamour reported.

Collins didn’t hold back, accusing them of dismissing Black women who were visibly Black and rocked their natural hair.

“Women with afros, braids, locs, etc; weren’t even given a chance because of the white standards of beauty,” she claimed, adding that only “ethnically ambiguous” people of color were chosen.”

Welp!

https://www.instagram.com/p/CBWNjyEH0EO/?utm_source=ig_embed

Sis added that while she played a crucial role in getting Rachel Lindsay, the first Black Bachelorette, cast in the franchise, sadly the season after hers was back to their old games when it came to casting and women of color.

“My hope was that having a racially diverse cast of gentlemen would be an important milestone that would continue into the future. That was not the case…Your show has white-washed for decades, inside and out. Your head of post-production is white. Your casting director is white. Your executive in charge is white,” Collins continued.

https://www.instagram.com/p/B-NJPNIHqfy/

Look toward the future, Collins is urging the folks behind The Bachelor to change the demographic of who is on front of the camera, but also who is behind it.

“Not only is it important to have a diverse cast reflect what the rest of America looks like, [but it’s also] important for the production and casting teams to be able to share the same experiences as the cast members.”

Now Collins wasn’t the Black woman to speak against the show—Lindsay also had some words, taking to Twitter to congratulate James for his upcoming season, but also express her feelings about the show’s problematic past.

While it’s completely awful that these white casting directors continue to discriminate against Black women and their natural hair and turn them away from participating from the show…is having Black Bachelorettes the type of representation we need given the nature of the show itself? Or should that even matter? Real talk: I’m still on the fence.

But either way, I hope the folks behind the reality romance series are paying attention and recognize that Black women come in all shades and hair textures and shouldn’t be dismissed because of it.

Alicia Keys & John Legend To Take Part In Verzuz Celebration On Juneteenth

"The Night That Changed America: A GRAMMY Salute To The Beatles" - Fixed Show

Source: Kevin Winter / Getty

After taking a week off from Verzuz following “The Healing” with Kirk Franklin and Hezekiah Walker, Swizz Beatz announced on Saturday that John Legend and Alicia Keys would be next up and it would be on the piano keys.

“Let’s celebrate Juneteenth with a special edition #Verzuz! @Aliciakeys vs  @johnlegendon the (piano keys) Friday, June 19th. 8pm est @verzuztv !!” Swizz Beatz wrote on Instagram.

The event taking place on Juneteenth is special for a number of reasons as Juneteenth commemorates the holiday where former Black slaves in Texas discovered they were “free” from caste bondage. The Emancipation Proclamation had been signed in 1863 freeing the slaves but it wasn’t until two years later that all slaves recognized their freedom. It has since become a traditional holiday for Black people.

Keys and Legend’s battle follows some historic matchups including Babyface vs. Teddy RileyHezekiah Walker and Kirk Franklin and Erykah Badu vs. Jill Scott. Of all of the Verzuz, Jilly From Philly and the Baduzim singer have the largest audience to date.

Noooooo! Some Of Your Favorite Black-Owned Hair Brands Aren’t Black-Owned

Cantu Shea Butter For Natural Hair Coconut Curling Cream

In a matter of days, we have seen Miss Nancy and dem kneeling in kente cloth on Capitol Hill, Republican Senator Mitt Romney talking about “Black Lives Matter” and Terry Crews on Twitter crying about “Black supremacy.”

We are officially in the Twilight Zone—and clearly not going anywhere anytime soon.

But what’s making us travel even deeper into a different dimension is, apparently, some of your favorite “Black-owned” hair brands are not really black-owned, leaving many sistas confused, like myself, lost and feeling bamboozled.

See, it all started on June 7, when BeautyBossLab posted this comprehensive list, ruffling many of feathers. Take a look:

Then, days later, Black Twitter started popping off with “The Owner   The product” tweets to remind us that not even Blue Magic, Cantu or African Pride is ours!

https://twitter.com/pktheterrible/status/1270314264574791680?s=20

https://twitter.com/tallglassofstyl/status/1270166927911108611?s=11

Welp! My childhood is ruined.

But here’s the deal, some of these companies such as African Pride, Carol’s Daughter and SheaMoisture may have been founded by African-Americans from the beginning, but later were sold off to larger white-owned conglomerates, Hype Hair noted.

Of course, some companies tried to soothe our pain on IG with Mane Essentials (another fave), admitting that while the company isn’t Black-owned, it prides itself with #BlackGirlMagic. Meanwhile, the folks over at Cantu, laid out their numbers in the #PullUpOrShutUp Challenge toting that Black people account for a whopping 67 percent of their staff, but the larger company that owns them? Not as good.

Take a look:

It’s not a secret that right now there has been a huge push on the importance of supporting Black-owned businesses because our lives and companies matter. But if you really need your tub of Eco Styler or that Shea Moisture coconut oil deep conditioner, I promise I won’t judge you.

BEAUTIES: Are you shocked to see that some of your favorite brands are not Black-owned?
