Tina Turner Mural Defaced In North Carolina

Even though it is the holidays, hate still finds its way into the festive season. A mural of Tina Turner was defaced the week of Christmas in North Carolina.

According to the Citizen Times, a mural of the legendary singer that is hanging in front of the Static Age Records store in downtown Asheville was vandalized with a red swastika on December 23rd. Though it was drawn incorrectly, with three of the four arms going counterclockwise, the message of hate still resonates. The owner, Jesse McSwain, said the ruined art was covered with a black sheet by someone who is not connected to his store. The apparent hate crime is being addressed by the Asheville police and the Southern Law Poverty Center.

McSwain was shocked that such a crime would happen at his store, which he describes as a “widely inclusive, safe space.”

“Occasionally some weird supremacist will rear their head around here,” he told the Times. “Not sure how organized this act was. Perhaps more organized than I’d like to think about.”

McSwain later covered the swastika in black paint. He said in his 16 years of owning his store, he has never experienced any hateful actions or threats towards the store.

The Static Records’ pulldown storefront to honor legendary singers. The mural of Turner was based on her character in the movie Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome.

Since the mural of the “What’s Love Got To Do With It?” singer has been destroyed, McSwain is now thinking about now rotating a mural of Israeli artist Charlie Megira.

Throughout this year, white supremacists have been making their presence felt by leaving swastikas all over downtown and attacking marginalized communities. A swastika was carved into the door of a chocolate shop over the summer according to the Twitter account Asheville AntiRacism. There have also been hate mail sent to members of the LGBTQ and nonbinary communities as well.

After the success of their Surviving R. Kelly series, Lifetime will be premiering another limited docu-series at the top of 2020. Their new series, Hopelessly In Love, will give an in-depth look into the relationships of love-struck celebrities who were in high-profile relationships. Through interviews with those closest to them and never-before-seen footage, the two-hour films will give an unfiltered look of the ups and downs of these romances.

“Featuring deeply emotional new interviews, and never-before-seen footage, each installment will be an impassioned journey through the intense ups and downs of a whirlwind romance that was lived in the limelight,” reads Lifetime’s website about the new series. “Untold secrets will be revealed on how these star-crossed lovers ended up facing the ultimate tragedy.”

The first love story that will be told will be that of the late Lisa “Left-Eye” Lopes of TLC and then former football star Andre Rison. The press release promises that Hopelessly In Love will give a close look into their “intense and complex relationship.”

“The film delves into their passionate yet reckless romance that went from abuse allegations to a mansion up in flames,” it says.

Lopes and Rison began dating in 1993 and in 1994 their love became infamous after Lopes burned down the home they shared after they had a fight. This led to her being on five years probation and also voluntarily entering rehab for alcohol abuse. This incident didn’t tear their relationship apart though and they had plans of getting married in the early 2000s. Unfortunately, Lopes died in a car crash in Honduras in 2002.

Another couple’s whose love will be explored is Faith Evans and the late Notorious B.I.G. It’s no secret that these two Bad Boy Records stars were young and in love who got married after a few months of knowing each other. As seen in Biggie’s biopic Notorious, their marriage was plagued with infidelities and domestic disputes. The two tied the knot in August of 1994 and were married until Biggie’s death on March 9th, 1997.

The docu-series will also tell the story of Anna Nicole Smith and Larry Birkhead.

Hopelessly in Love will premiere on Lifetime on January 4th, 2020 at 9:30 p.m EST.  Take a look at the trailer for episode one below.

“I Didn’t Think I Was Worthy Of This Kind Of Happiness:” Singer Major Proposes To His Girlfriend

The celebrity Christmas proposals are slowly rolling in and singer Major is the latest star to share the joy of love with his fans this holiday season.

Yesterday, the “This is Why I Love You” hit maker posted a foreshadowing photo on Instagram with his girlfriend, writing, “I thank God for Love… 🌹🙏🏾🌹 #TisTheSeason to be Loved! #ThisIsWhyILoveYou.”

Today that post was followed up with an even more telling video of the same woman showing off a diamond on her ring finger with the words yes in the background. Confirming that his girlfriend accepted his proposal in the caption, the 35-year-old added, “Y’all I didn’t think I was worthy of this kind of happiness. God proved otherwise. Amazing Grace how sweet the sound. I know for sure – it’s Love I’ve found.”

Ironically, Major starred in the TV One Christmas movie “Dear Santa, I Need a Date,” this December, though the movie title obviously doesn’t pertain to his personal life, which he’s kept under wraps since entering the music scene. When interviewed about the role on Fox 11, the hosts did bring up his girlfriend which prompted Major to declare “She’s amazing,” but he didn’t go into further detail.

There’s no word on how long Major and his fiancée have been dating, but he strikes us as the “when you know, you know” type. When asked on the red carpet for the premier of the Lifetime movie “Love by the 10th Date” whether he personally believes in love by the tenth date, he said: “If you haven’t figured it out by then I think there’s some things, but sometimes it takes time. Sometimes it takes time, you know? And ten may be the win.”

With “This is Why I Love You” being one of the top wedding songs of the past three years, it’ll be interesting to see if Major serenades his own bride with his hit on their big day.

Meagan Good Sheds Tears Seeing Cousin Skeeter Puppet After 20 Years [VIDEO]

As a child of the nineties, we grew up in the golden era of television shows. Between the Disney channel, ABC’s TGIF, and Nickelodeon, there was plenty of quality children’s content. It was a good time for us watching at home and judging by a recent interview with child star turned bonafide actress Meagan Good, it was a lovely experience to be acting in those shows.

See what she had to say below:

“That was my second thing where I was the lead in it. I started crying [when I learned that I booked the role] I was so excited because I’d been in the business for such a long time. And I’d always done it as a hobby, just having fun. Then there was a year where I was out of the business so when I came back, I came back with vengeance and I was like, ‘This is really what I want to do for the rest of my life.’ To be able to continue to work was a blessing. And to get a tv show, that really taught me everything about my work ethic, and taught me everything about how to be consistent, how to develop a character, every single day in and day out.”

When they brought the Cousin Skeeter puppet out, Good started tearing up. She explained why seeing Cousin Skeeter made her so emotional.

“Being in the business for so long…it’s not an easy business,” she said. “…It’s a constant faith walk to get that type of opportunity at such a crucial age and for that to really be a big part of my childhood. We didn’t really get to go to prom because I was filming…that was a choice and that was a choice that I would never change or do differently but the things that were happening in my world, that’s the world I experienced as a teenager and Cousin Skeeter‘s a very big part of that.”

You can watch Meagan’s full interview in the video below.

“B*tch R-Kelly’d Me” Da Baby Speaks About Being Molested At 5-Years-Old [VIDEO]

Sadly, sexual abuse of children is all too common. And while some of us conceptualize it for what it is, for men, with the way sex is seen as some type of rite of passage or something they are supposed to desire from a woman, without exception, the lines get blurred.

You’ll often hear men describing predatory, molestation or rape encounters with older women as “losing their virginity” or the beginning of their sexual experience. But in actuality, it’s the violation of a trusting child.

28-year-old rapper Da Baby appeared on Angela Yee’s podcast Lip Service. At the very top of the interview, Yee and her co-hosts, Lore’l and GiGi Maguire, spoke about losing their virginity to a woman. GiGi shared that she hunched another girl until the both of them climaxed. While the hosts argued about whether or not that constituted losing one’s virginity, Da Baby shared that he had done something similar, much earlier.

Da Baby: “If that’s losing your virginity. Then I lost my virginity at four/five years old…Never mind I ain’t gon’ speak on it. But like, I got two older brothers. So all the older n*ggas from the neighborhood, they used to come to the crib. My momma worked two jobs. She wouldn’t even be home. Me and my brothers would come straight home from school. We  little ass boys. And there was this little girl, not a little girl, they was grown. My brother was a kid. My oldest brother was a kid. So I’m a kid kid. I’m like five years old. And in there doing whatever they was doing. And I was copying off them n*ggas: Humping on her leg, sucking on her titties, that type of sh*t at five years old. B*tch R-Kelly’d me when I think about it. She was grown. They look like they were grown. Like 17-18. My first time sharing that on camera. But yeah, I wouldn’t call that losing my virginity. I ain’t know what I was doing then. I knew more than the average five-year-old.”

They gloss over this particular story relatively quickly but you can watch the full interview in the video below.

Michelle Williams Is Okay With Not Being A Destiny’s Child Fan Favorite: “I Still Got Paid!” [VIDEO]

FOX's The Maksed Singer - Season Two

Source: FOX / Getty

Earlier this month Michelle Williams broke her year-long musical hiatus by appearing on FOX’s “The Masked Singer.” Just ahead of her performance, Williams sat down with Billboard and discussed being made to feel insecure about her voice because it was not recognized by mainstream fans and realizing that she was not a vocal favorite during her time in Destiny’s Child.

“Because I’ve done a lot of gospel, so I’m kind of insecure because mainstream [fans] don’t know my voice,” she told the publication. “And sometimes social media… it’s bad when you read the comments. I like engaging with people on social media. I don’t want to not talk to the people that are being gracious all because there are some mean ones out there. But sometimes before you get to the nice ones you have to get through a couple mean ones. Apparently, I don’t have the most commercially appealing voice or whatever. People have their favorites, but vocally I was not a favorite in the group, and that stuck with me.”

“It’s not that I was second-guessing, I’m just aware. Some people are like, ‘Oh my God, they said it stuck with her.’ No, it didn’t stick with me. You know, sometimes you’re just aware that you’re not everybody’s favorite and that’s okay. I still got paid!”

Williams went on to imply that her ranking with Destiny’s Child fans has in no way contributed to her struggles with depression.

It’s great the Michelle has been able to guard herself and her emotions from the criticism of others.

“I Feel So Disconnected From God”: Popular D.C.-Area Pastor Takes Sabbatical To Prioritize His Wellness

A recent emotional revelation by Pastor Howard-John Wesley, the head of the Alfred Street Baptist Church in Alexandria, Virginia, for 11 years, shows that there hasn’t been enough conversation regarding the emotional state of pastors around the country.

Following the suicide of Jarid Wilson, a popular pastor who for years struggled with depression and burnout, Wesley opened up to his congregation on Sunday, December 1, informing them that he would need to take a much-needed reprieve from the pulpit. From January 1 to April 12, he will be on sabbatical, returning on Easter Sunday.

From the outside looking in Wesley is lauded as a success. He preaches to over 4,5000 attendees every week, and with an online presence of 50,000 viewers during his sermon. He’s bore witness in front of The Obamas, as the former First family has visited his church on multiple occasions for Easter Sunday services.

But there are new challenges modern-day pastors face. With new inventions in technology and social media, pastors are now essentially accessible and on call 24 hours a day, something that Wesley says has been his lived experience. Some pastors also serve as wellness advisors by offering counseling services for their congregation members.

“How many Sundays of four worship services do I have?” It leaves me tired. And a nap ain’t going to fix it,” he continued.

Most importantly, he’s done the work of shepherding his flock, which requires an exuberant amount of energy. And specifically, the role of the pastor in Black communities is inherently interlinked in various way, socially, economically, as well as spiritually. In America, the role of the pastor has existed as an important usher in Black communities since slavery.

Though Wesley maintains that he’s not necessarily burned out, he acknowledges a gap in reach from the God he serves.

“I feel so distant from God,” he said. “One of the greatest mistakes of pastoring is to think that because you work for God, you’re close to God.”

To help with the transition Wesley says that he expects some privacy, and set clear boundaries for his request in an interview with The Washington Post. In the gap he intends to spend more time with his sons, sleep eight hours a day, instead of four or five, and will also take some time away from the public and social media. He will also only attend one service on Sunday’s during his sabbatical.

“After church I want to experience this miraculous phenomenon you talk about called brunch.” he continued. “I want to know what a mimosa tastes like on a Sunday.”

Wesley also wants focus on improving his physical health due to a recent doctor visit where he learned he was in poor condition.

“I ain’t going to die in this pulpit, he said. “You’re not going to roll me out of here in a wheelchair…I’ve got life to live. I’ve got golf courses to play.”

Foremost, Wesley hopes to reconnect with God.

“I want to read the Bible from Genesis to Revelation without trying to write a sermon. I want to travel and go sit in the back of somebody’s church and hear the word of God and not be worried about what time we got to get out for the next crowd.”

Lauren London Pays Tribute To Nipsey Hussle In Emotional “Forever Stronger” Puma Campaign

In a touching new ad for Puma, actress Lauren London bears witness to her soul while debuting a new collaboration under the sportswear giant.

“Lauren London is proud to join forces with PUMA to support her on this next chapter of her journey. This piece was a creative vision Lauren wanted to bring to life to signify the continuation of her marathon alongside PUMA. Forever Stronger,” a description of the collaboration reads.

The ad is also a dedication to her lost love, rapper Nipsey Hussle, who was tragically gunned down in March 2019.

“There is nothing to hide here, no way to pretend. We relate, we disagree, we disengage. We are running into each other. We are the song that writes itself,” her voiceover beings as scenes of South Los Angeles intertwine with imagery of the actress. Lauren is seen walking and driving through the streets of Crenshaw, passing by memorials constructed in honor of Nipsey.

The poem Lauren recites in the ad was written by Samantha Smith, Nipsey Hussle’s younger sister. Lauren also debuts a new shorter cut as she models various fashions from the line.

Prior to his death Nipsey worked with Puma to launch a capsule collection with his apparel store The Marathon Clothing. The line featured 19 pieces and was launched posthumously on September 5, almost six months after his death.

In a November GQ long form piece dedicated to Nipsey told through the lens of his family and close friends, London opened up about her life after March 2019 and her struggle to maintain normalcy for her and her children.

“I can’t talk about our last day together, and I still have to be strong for my children,” she said.” I have a three-year-old that’s still asking, ‘Where is Daddy?’ He doesn’t understand the concept of death.”

Nipsey and Lauren share a three-year-old son named Kross. Both were parents to children prior to entering into a relationship. Hussle has a 11-year-old daughter named Emani, and Lauren has a 10 year-old son named Kameron with rapper Lil Wayne.

As Lauren slowly enters into the public sphere after experiencing her devastating loss, we wish her nothing but love and light at this time.

Mother Runs Barber Over For Leaving A Cut On Her Son’s Neck

28-year-old Ruby Delgadillo is still a suspect on the loose being hunted down by police after she allegedly rammed her Prius into a barber for nicking her son’s neck during a haircut.

The barber, Brian Martin’s leg was shattered, telling Oxygen news that the suspect held the steering wheel and aimed right for him before running her car into the 63-year-old. “She looked at me, she pushed me through the building,” he said. Delgadillo is said to have used her 2006 model Prius for the hit and run, which resulted in Martin being launched into a glass storefront at around 3:45 pm in the afternoon on Wednesday, December 4.

Martin was just standing outside his Delta Barber Shop at the time of the alleged incident. “She was looking right at me,” he told KPIX-TV in a phone interview. He also added that her two sons were seated in the passenger seats while, “she put that Prius in go.”

Based on accounts from both eye-witnesses and the victim, police believe the car strike was an intentional act.

“This incident started as an argument over a haircut the victim provided to the responsible’s child,” the statement reads. “As the argument continued, the responsible got into her vehicle and intentionally drove at the victim, hitting him and pushing him through the glass storefront.”

According to Martin, the woman left the shop after her seven-year-old’s haircut, soon returning to show him what he called was ‘this little scratch.’ “I told her ‘What can I do? There’s nothing I can do!’” he said, adding that the cut happened because the little kid wouldn’t stop squirming. “I just couldn’t deescalate it.”

Immediately after, Delgadillo returned to her car and dashed at him straight. “She had one hand on the wheel, one flipping me off and screaming,” Martin continued. “She held that steering wheel and she aimed right for me. She looked at me, she pushed me through the building.”

After hitting him, Martin claims that Degadillo simply backed out and drove off from the premises in her car. As of Thursday, she still hadn’t been located.

Syleena Johnson Shows Off 50-Pound Weight Loss Ahead Of Her Fitness And Figure Competition Debut

If you’ve been paying attention, whether you follow her on Instagram or watch TV One’s Sister Circle, then you may have noticed that Syleena Johnson has shed some pounds. The 41-year-old singer and TV personality shared this week that she has lost 50 pounds. She’s been getting in her best shape to take part in her first fitness competition soon.

Johnson has shared her journey on Facebook and Instagram, including her methods to slim down and her regimen to get ready for the competition through a video series called #From1Stage2TheNext. She works out consistently, posting her during and after exercise photos/videos. She eats clean and tries treatments like an infrared sauna bag, which helps her detox and burn fat and in turn, aids in her weight loss.

She has a trainer, KD, whom “has been instrumental in getting her leaner and stronger.” She also shares advice and knowledge, including about not being a slave to the scale and the key to seeing progress. Johnson, as an interesting fact, has a bachelor’s degree in nutrition science.

She also works with fitness competitors like IFBB Figure Pro Ashley Sparks to help her learn how to pose for the shows and who has encouraged her to pick up practices like ice baths to help her with chronic back pain and soreness.

Johnson’s first competition is right around the corner, literally. She has her first show on December 7 after passing on her original competition, The Lee Haney Games, because she wasn’t ready. Now she is.

“It’s been very, very interesting, very difficult, but exciting, fun and new,” she said in one of her videos about this fitness journey she’s been on since summertime. “I’m excited to see myself on the stage. I’m excited to get to this next level.”

Johnson shared that she’s been intrigued with the idea of doing competitions since the early 2000s after one of her first trainers, a competitor, inspired her.

“This has been a longtime dream of mine. This is not something I just woke up yesterday and said I wanted to do,” she said. “I don’t want to live this life and not do all of the things that I think I can do. I just feel like we can accomplish our goals and dreams, all in this life. And so that’s what I’m doing. I’m just pursuing all of the dreams and desires and goals and wants that God puts in my belly. Being a fitness competitor is one of them. I will continue to compete hopefully with the grace of God, but the first competition, I just want to get on the stage.”

K. Michelle Poses In Her Underwear To Bare The “Dents” And “Scars” Left Behind From Having Toxic Butt Injections Removed

K. Michelle is feeling more comfortable in her skin than ever before now that she’s healthy.

The 33-year-old singer has been very open about the journey she’s been on since 2018 to have butt injections, as in the white pellets that made up the material injected in her, removed from her backside and other parts of her body that they found their way into. After numerous surgeries, the “Can’t Raise a Man” singer is getting some work done to reconstruct her natural behind, which was obviously altered with the injections and after they were removed. She showed fans her progress on Instagram this week, posing unabashedly in a crop top and her underwear. She talked about how far she’s come and her upcoming TV series helping other women have silicone removed from their bodies.

“This body of mine has been through hell! It isn’t perfect but it’s MY body,” she said. “This journey has been difficult but i’m a tough cookie. Proud of myself and that’s all that matters! Finishing up my reconstruction with @drcarlosgomez1 I’ll see you in Jan. Also i’m excited about my new tv show helping women like me remove silicon from their bodies! Powerful and how I want to spend my 2020, saving some peoples life.”

https://twitter.com/miniplus12/status/1202178403492880389

While plenty of people lauded her for prioritizing her health and “living in your truth,” she did find herself at odds with a woman who claimed that her photo looked edited and therefore, claimed she wasn’t keeping it 100 percent real. K refuted that idea, saying anything you see in the pic, dents, curves, scars, are not of an edited picture. They are, instead, the effects of having to have tissue removed from her lower half because of the silicone that was in her system and the damage it did internally. Of course, K being K, she didn’t say it exactly like that…

“The curves you see are my scars you stupid a– b—h. Sick of you bottom level a– hoes always talking about sh-t you have no clue about!” she replied. “I have dents in me from where the tissue was cut out and you get on here talking about I edited a picture. If I edited a picture it would look better than this. And what type of jealous a– bitch get on a post like this starting some sh-t? Oh. The biggest loser. Edit that with yo nutty a–.”

Yikes!

Anyway, the star talked about making the decision to go through the long process of having the silicone removed after finding herself in pain and her health compromised while on The Dr. Oz Showlast year.

“I really thought I was like poppin’,” she said. “I was like, oh yeah, I look good. I look so good. And I did it so many years ago. I did it about, what, four or five years ago. And I didn’t start to feel any pain or have any issues until like a year ago. And my health just started to decline and go down and I ran all types of blood tests, everything. Doctors were really trying to figure out, you know, what was wrong with me. And I had seen some stories of a lot of women who were going through the same thing and it was like discoloration. It was pain in your back. It was migraines. It was super discomfort. I took the stats and I’m like I know what this is. It’s like you always have this intuition where you know you might want to ignore it. But I couldn’t ignore it anymore and it just wasn’t worth it.”
