Usher Doing Big Thangs This Weekend

The performers for Usher’s First Annual World Leadership Awards have been announced and they include Justin Bieber and Ciara. Of course, Usher himself has previously been announced as a performer at the August 6th event in Atlanta. The R&B singer’s New Look Foundation is putting on the awards ceremony. Former President Bill Clinton will receive the Service Legacy Award, while Usher’s protegé Bieber, who is 16-years-old, will receive the Global Youth Leadership Award. Usher says in a statement that he’s honored to put on the event for those who have blazed trails as youth leaders. He says, quote, “They share New Look’s understanding that youth are not merely leaders in waiting; they are ready to achieve greatness today.”

Free Concert with B.O.B.

Atlanta emcee B.o.B. will be treating fans in his hometown to a free show this weekend. AllHipHop.com is reporting that the “Airplanes” rapper will perform at Atlanta’s Center Stage on Saturday. Tickets for the show — which is sponsored by MySpace “Live” and Hewlett Packard — became available on Monday on a first-come, first-served basis. Fans unable to attend the concert will be able to watch a live stream at MySpace.com and AllHipHop.com. B.o.B. says he’s excited for this weekend’s show saying, quote, “Not only will people be tuning in from MySpace Music but it will be syndicated on AllHipHop via Ustream, the first time this has ever been done before on two massive music sites. MySpace is just huge and I’ve been down with AllHipHop since the Breeding Ground, this is great.”

B.o.B. released his debut album, “B.o.B. Presents: The Adventures of Bobby Ray,” this past April. The record includes the hit singles “Nothin’ On You” and “Airplanes.”

This Is Just Too Much Idol!!

Ellen DeGeneres is parting ways with “American Idol” after serving just one season as a judge. The comedienne and talk show host notes the change has been coming for some time, explaining in a statement, quote, “A couple months ago, I let Fox and the ‘American Idol’ producers know that this didn’t feel like the right fit for me. I told them I wouldn’t leave them in a bind and that I would hold off on doing anything until they were able to figure out where they wanted to take the panel next.” She notes that time became an issue as well, and with “Idol” along with hosting “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” her work schedule became, quote, “more than I bargained for.” Check out the new judge taking her place.

Deadline.com is reporting that pop diva and Hollywood star Jennifer Lopez has agreed to be a judge on Fox’s hit vocal competition. News of the “Get Right” singer’s new gig comes just shortly after DeGeneres announced that she was leaving the show. According to Deadline, Lopez’ manager, Benny Medina, began negotiating a deal with “American Idol” producers a month ago.

While DeGeneres’ seat is no longer available, “Idol” is still looking to fill the void left by Simon Cowell. The show is reportedly looking at artists like Shania Twain, Bret Michaels, Chris Isaak, Jessica Simpson, and Harry Connick Jr. Fox producers plan to name a replacement for Cowell sometime in early September.

Season two “American Idol” winner and runner-up Ruben Studdard and Clay Aiken are on the road together on their “Timeless” tour. The 17-date outing kicked off last night in Asheville, North Carolina and is scheduled to play in Jacksonville, Florida tonight. The pair promise to reveal surprise guests at each tour stop. The outing marks the first time “Idol” fans will see the two singers share the stage since 2003, when Studdard was crowned the winner of the competition.

Ten months later, Eminem is finally lending his thoughts on Kanye West’s behavior at last September’s MTV Video Music Awards. In the new issue of “Spin” magazine, “Em” says Kanye was out of line for interrupting Taylor Swift’s acceptance speech. He states, quote, “He shouldn’t have done that,” adding, quote, “I mean she’s a little girl.” Eminem also admits in his interview that he became jealous of Lil Wayne’s success during a difficult period in his life, and considered releasing a diss track against both “Weezy” and Kanye West. Eminem says he eventually decided not to drop the record noting, quote, “It would have been career suicide.”

Eminem is currently riding high thanks to the success of his latest album, “Recovery.” The record is enjoying its fourth straight week atop the Billboard 200, while Eminem’s latest single, “Love The Way You Lie,” is number one on the Hot 100.

DMX’s Ex Speaks Out on Reality Show

The wife of hip-hop star DMX is looking forward to starting a career on TV as a single woman. On Thursday, Tashera Simmons announced that she’s officially separated from the rapper and planning to star in a reality show. “Tashera Simmons…Life After X” will reportedly focus on how Simmons’ family is dealing with DMX’s legal and drug problems and how they, quote, “cope with a husband and father that has let them down over and over again.” Simmons says she’s currently shopping “Life After X” to several different networks. She is also planing to write a tell-all memoir titled “Tashera Simmons…Strength of a Woman.” Simmons says she’s “talking about everything” in the book, from her days as a child to her relationship with DMX.

DMX was released from an Arizona jail earlier this month after serving four months for a probation violation. He was also jailed in 2009 for pleading guilty to theft, drug possession and animal cruelty.

Halle Berry Has an Addiction

The Huffington Report says that Halle Berry’s newest role will be in the film “Shoe Addicts Anonymous,” WWD reports. Based on the book by Beth Harbison, the comedy, about four Chicago women obsessed with footwear, will hit screens in fall 2011.

Plies Dismissed

A civil lawsuit against Plies has been dismissed. The lawsuits stem from a concert shooting that left five people injured in a 2006 concert in Gainesville, Florida that also featured Lil Boosie.

Plies’ entourage was accused of shooting rounds into a crowd at Club 238.

The Florida goon plead guilty to a charge of possession of a firearm and was sentenced to probation while his brother Ronell “Big Gates” Lavatte served three years in prison because he was a convicted felon. Big Gates was released last year.

Plies also didn’t fire shots when the incident occurred.
