The Fifth Annual BET Hip-Hop Awards will be taking place this weekend.
Hosted by comedian Mike Epps, this year’s ceremony will be taped on Saturday night at the Boisfeuillet Jones Atlanta Civic Center. The show will then air on BET October 12th at 8:00 p.m. Eastern. Rap superstar Jay-Z is leading this year’s nominees with eleven nominations. Hov will compete in categories like Lyricist of the Year, MVP of the Year, Best Live Performer, and Track of the Year for his hit single “Empire State of Mind.” Canadian emcee Drake is also poised for a successful evening with eight nominations, while his Young Money labelmate Nicki Minaj has six. Eminem, B.o.B., Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, Diddy and Gucci Mane will also be looking to take home a little hardware this year.
