PaleyFest, the annual fan-filled event honoring the best primetime hits on the small screen, has announced a diverse lineup of honorees for this year’s event, which will take place March 11-20 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood.
Occurring in the midst of a hotly debated award season, the addition of Black-ish, Empire, Power, and Scandal to the event shines a spotlight on the enduring importance of diversity in primetime television. Maureen J. Reidy, President and CEO of The Paley Center for Media, released a statement about the 33rd annual show last week:
“The Paley Center for Media is pleased to present an outstanding and diverse group of events at this year’s PaleyFest LA, welcoming the talented actors and creative forces that define excellence in front of and behind the camera,” said Maureen J. Reidy, President, and CEO at The Paley Center for Media. “We’re thrilled to continue the Paley Center’s tradition of celebrating television and embracing inclusivity by honoring the many diverse voices and storylines that make a cultural impact while also bringing joy and entertainment to all types of audiences.”
Opening the event will be the full cast of Empire. Fresh off her Golden Globe win, Taraji P. Henson will more than likely share more details about the second season finale, which airs March 20.
The cast of Scandal and Better Call Saul are some of the recent additions to the event. Paleyfest will also honor Dick Wolf, creator of both the Law & Order franchise and new hits like Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D, and Chicago Med.
