SnoopzillaSnoop Dogg is reinventing himself once again, this time as a funk artist, the hip-hop icon is working on a funk album under the name “Snoopzilla”.

Snoop has teamed up with modern funk artist Dam-Funk for a collaborative album 7 Days of Funk, due Dec. 10 on Stones Throw Records. His new name pays homage to long time Funk staple Bootsy Collins, who adopted the moniker “Bootzilla.”

“We’re the babies of the Mothership,” said Snoopzilla. “I’ve had funk influences in my music my whole career. Dam-Funk is cold. He’s keeping the funk alive and I knew I had to get down with him.”

7 Days of Funk will feature guest spots from Daz, Kurupt, and Steve Arrington.

“It’s hip-hop, but you can also hear what we grew up on, from Zapp to Evelyn ‘Champagne’ King and Patrice Rushen,” said Dam.
