J. Cole Cole Summer SongHip-Hop’s favorite North Carolina rhymeslinger J. Cole has been holed up in the studio perfecting his upcoming second album “Cole Summer.” In an effort to build buzz for the project, Cole dropped the title track and he brings the listener up close and personal for five minutes and two seconds over a sample of Lauryn Hill‘s sweet ballad “Nothing Even Matters.”

In the song “Cole Summer,” J. Cole spits about the experiences he’s had coming up in the music game after signing to the hottest new label in hip-hop, Roc Nation. J. Cole opens up about hanging out at the strip club with Drake and both of them making it rain on the dancers. The only difference, according to Cole, is Drake blew fifty thousand dollars while he only could afford tricking off four thousand.

He also talks about the time Jay-Z made him go into the studio and work with the popular production team known as Stargate. J. Cole likened that experience to sitting in detention. In case you don’t know, Stargate is the production team behind Ne-Yo‘s “Sexy Love” and Beyonce‘s “Irreplaceable.” So knowing the type of music Stargate makes, it’s easy to understand why J. Cole and them couldn’t get their creative juices going.

Take a listen to the song below. What are your thoughts? Does this make you want to go cop the album when it touches the streets on June 25th? Let us know.
