Infiniti says it’s just a concept for now, but the principles, like an electric powerplant with a range extender, are sure to migrate to other cars. The fact that its chassis and suspension are borrowed from Lotus’s underrated, mid-engined Evora give us hope for 10-out-of-10 roadholding and handling, with a silky ride to complement the electric silent running. The main purpose of the Emerg-E exercise is purportedly to boost Infiniti’s profile in Europe and Asia, where the brand is a new entrant to the market. But even here in America, where the Infiniti brand is more than 20 years old, we’d say it’s working.
