West Coast rap veteran Ice Cube has a “take” on why his former N.W.A. group member Dr. Dre’s long-delayed Detox album hasn’t hit store shelves.

In Cube’s opinion, the Doc is most concerned with his buzzing Beats By Dre luxury headphones these days.

Still to this day, there is no official word on ‘Detox,’ and Dre has even stated that he was taking a break from music to focus on other things in his life. But for Dr. Dre’s, Beats By Dre headphones have become a massive success. Could this be the real reason why no new music have dropped from Dre’s final album ‘Detox’?

In a recent interview with Sway, Ice Cube stated his opinion, “Honestly? Them headphones are selling, selling, selling. What would you rather sell somebody: $300 headphones, or a $10 tape?”

In January, Dre’s Aftermath protege, Slim the Mobster, gave hip-hop heads a small Detox update. “Just got off the phone with @drdre told me he gettin it in with lil wayne tonight….. #detox,” he tweeted Monday. (Slim the Mobster’s Twitter)

Despite announcing plans to take a music hiatus last fall, Dre recently promised Detox would remain a top priority.

“Well, right now I’m just taking a small break to come out and do some promotion with Beats but actually I’m getting back on it when I get home. It has to feel good,” Dre said in an interview when asked about taking a break from music. (Time Out)

In November, West Coast rapper Game said fans could expect him to appear on the long-awaited LP.
