Sometimes we get too wrapped up in the media and we allow our minds to be molded into believe what is in front of us versus what we truly already know. It seems that “The Hood” is always put in such a different light than what is actually going on sometimes..So let’s dissect some of this.

1. They are the toughest people alive – #Fact its soft people everywhere! You can go to any city state or country and you will find somebody whose heart pump slushie. With that said, you are not the Terminator because you grew up a little rougher than the next man or woman. Somebody from Boise Idaho would bust your head and it aint nothing you could do about but go to the hospital. Keep think only people from the slums is “bout that life” and you going to find out real quick how real life is!

2. It’s where all black people want to be – I dont know about you, but broke and struggling is not how I WANT to live. If you truly do meet a person that wants to be in a REAL HOOD..They need therapy. Poverty stricken, low income, higher police brutality, poor education system overall high crime rate…Yea..that sound real smooth don’t it?

3. Everybody sells drugs – I actually blame rap music and people not really from the hood for this. There is a lot of legal hustlers in inner city and poverty stricken areas. To say that everybody got work is very disrespectful to the people that truly feed they families the right way and are desperately trying to get out of the hood.

4. It’s ONLY black people In The Hood – I know when we watch movies and TV all your hood classics feature and our directed by black people, but some hoods are virtual melting pots. Keyword SOME. There are Indians, Middle Easterns, even some Asians and Whites depending on how diverse your state and city are. Black people haven’t been 100% of the hood in a very long time if at all.

5. The are unintelligent – There are a lot of brilliant minds in the world today that happened to be from this dangerous and evil hood. Judge Mathis, Diddy, Isaiah Thomas, Whitney Houston, Mike Epps, Mary J Blige and the list can honestly keep going. This is the ultimate judging a book by its cover and it honestly time for it to end

I hope this educated some and reminded others. It ain’t all good in the hood but, it isn’t all bad either. Live your life and trust in God. Make a better way for you and your children because we all want to make, lets just be mindful of why its important to make it.
